10 DO'S AND DON'T'S OF A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS! 1) DO be courteous on the phone. 2) DO build rapport with your contact. 3) DO learn as much about your business as possible. 4) DO your research. 5) DON'T accept your contact's first no. You can approach from many angles. 6) DON'T sound desperate for a sale. 7) DON'T abandon your contact once you have completed your sale. 8) DO advertise your business. 9) DON'T be make a person feel bad about themselves. You want them to feel like they CAN make a difference. 10) DON'T ignore any advice or help offered by others. FIRST SIGN OF A SCAM: THEY WANT YOU TO PAY FOR THE INFORMATION ON HOW TO WORK FROM HOME. DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO HAVE TO PAY FOR INFO OR AVAILABLE POSITIONS IN YOUR AREA? |
DON'T WORK IT. MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU. IS FREE ADVERTISING POSSIBLE? Yes, FREE advertising is possible. At least for a while. Try out these tips for free advertising: 1) VistaPrint allows an initial order of 250 business cards for free. How do they do this? They print their company name on the back of the card giving them low cost advertising. Basically, whoever you advertise to, they advertise to. 2) There are tons of sites which will allow you to advertise your business for free. Remember though that you are competing with a growing number of people who are also starting their own at-home business. Be creative and unique, but DO NOT lie or deceive. People see lies and deceitful acts as leading to another scam. 3) You may not want to sell to your friends and family, but that doesn't mean that they can't help you advertise your business. They know lots of people and can use word-of-mouth to help get you up and running. 4) Use other relatively inexpensive means of advertising including flyers (especially with tear-away tabs) and email. These can be effective if used correctly. Check with the place first before posting your flyer to make sure it isn't simply taken down and thrown away. |
